I was struggling with recording skype. And Camtasia proved to be the perfect solution.
One additional point on windows, you don’t need any extra plugins, camtasia allows you to capture the audio from the system itself. Works brilliantly, and is far superior to the crappy skype third party recording tools, which have extremely low fidelity and too many issues.

Camtasia does provide the plugin for the Mac OS, but it doesn’t install it until you try to record system sound. It’s an extra step, but totally aided.
