I’m back from my Hokkaido Landscape Photography Adventure with a wonderfully talented group of photographers, one of whom was my old friend David Lee, and we sat down one afternoon to record a conversation that is today’s podcast. It was great to catch up, and I hope you enjoy our conversation.

I checked, and it was December 2008 when David and I first met at the Jindai Botanical Park and Gardens, and I borrowed his Canon EF 14mm lens and shot this image, then I bought my copy of the same lens on the way home.

Here are David’s videos from his storm-chasing work.

My first image with the David’s Canon EF 14mm lens

Here is the photo I copied from David, showing the Cherry Blossom light-up at Nogawa, a river that runs through Chofu in Tokyo, where David used to live and where I lived from 2010 to 2024.

And here is David’s original image. Interestingly, I focused on the people, while David focused on the cherry blossom. Of course, the cherry blossom are supposed to be the main subject, but I had found his attendant with the megaphone such a strong element, that’s where I focused. I think I still like David’s version more.
