Distant Dance

Comment: This colony of Japanese Red-Crowned Cranes in the mist was shot from a distance with a 600mm lens. It was early morning, just after sunrise. The location is one that I’ve visited many times hoping for lower temperatures than -15C, which is what is needed for this mist to form on the water. It was -18C this day, and I finally got some images that I had been after for a long time. Camera: Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III. Lens: 600mm F4
