Support MBP When You Buy!

Postby Martin » 2010-April-14(Wed) 1:45AM

Hi All,

You might have noticed that I updated the affiliate links at the top of the forum and on the blog.

If you intend to buy from B&H, or if you are about to order your copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 or one of the Adobe CS5 Suites, please use one of these links and support MBP. Using the links has no effect on the price of your purchases, but it does result in a little bit of commission coming back to me, which again, helps to off-set some of the costs of creating the Podcast and server costs etc.

I know these don't look great, but please try to live with them and help to keep this show on the road! :-)

Thanks!

Thanks Chris!

I'll update the LR tile when it's available too. I'm sure it will count, and therefore help. Thanks again. :-)

I applaud the idea, but as we're being royally shafted by Adobe here in Europe, you won't mind if I don't use the links above.

In the US, CS5 Master Suite is $2,599 list (+ local taxes). At current exchange rates that's £1,692. Yet the same software, not even localised for the UK, is listed at £2,303, to which we must had 17.5% VAT.

Sorry to be a negative, but Adobe are frankly taking the mickey now. I thought they were being a bit exorbitant with the CS2 to CS3 updates, and then to CS4, but this is going to new heights. As a freelance designer, I'm afraid I'm sticking with CS3 until something breaks, and then I'll look to other software makers to plug the gaps. I simply can't afford those kinds of prices.

I won't mind a bit if you want to delete this message. No hard feelings; I just needed to vent. :D

Martin,
I work in Manhattan, New York and can visit the B&H store (which is like a candy shop, mind you). Is there a way to send commission your way when shopping at the retail store or is it only online transactions?
Thanks for what you do. It's made me a better photographer in the few months I've been listening. Manual MODE!!!!!

Thanks for the thought Omar, but I don't know of a way to do that. No worries though. And I do envy you from living so close to B&H! :-)

Heather, vent away. I wouldn't dream of deleting your post. I actually agree. In Japan too, the Master Suite is 180% of the US cost to upgrade from my previous Design Suite Premium. It's ridiculous!

But, for people that are going to buy these products, please use the above links to support the MBP community. :-)

I don't think so Marcus, but I totally suggest that you use the B&H link, and buy CS5 there instead. It's almost twice as expensive from the Japan store. They are daylight robbers I tell you. :-)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've put an MBP Affiliate page together here, to outline who we are now affiliated with, and provide all the links and discount codes in one place.
